DIY Friday: Eco-friendly Wedding Card Box
There are a couple of ways to do the DIY wedding card box:
The first, while it is not a DIY project, saves time, money and is eco-friendly. Contact your wedding venue to see if they offer some type of a card holder. We have a vintage bird cage that our brides may place on the gift table, free of charge.
The second option is to create your own box. Looking for post consumer recycled paper and shopping at local mom and pop shops will help keep your box eco-friendly. (click here to learn the importance of shopping locally). If you live in the Phoenix area, my FAVORITE place to shop for unique paper is Mystic Paper, located in downtown Mesa. What you need:

(In addition to weddings, the card box idea can be great for wishing friends a speedy recovery, baby showers, or even decorating your home)

- Round or square box
- Decorative Paper
- Scissors
- PVA Glue (for bookbinding & paper projects)~ to all my vegan friends, I'd love some of your suggestions as a more friendly alternative!
- Sponge brushes
- Embellishments~ribbon, letters, flowers, etc.

(In addition to weddings, the card box idea can be great for wishing friends a speedy recovery, baby showers, or even decorating your home)
- Place paper design side down
- Dip sponge brush in glue mixture and spread over paper
- Place paper onto box and smooth out any creases
- Cut excess off with scissors
- Do same to lid
- Decorate box to desired effect
- You may choose to leave the lid off or cut a slit through the top with an exacto knife to slide envelopes through

What great ideas! Both the birdcage and the hatbox are great ideas! The birdcage could be spraypainted to match the colors, and the hat box can of course be decorated to the hilt with the wedding theme and colors. Thanks for the tips!
