According to the National Cancer Institute, cancer (KAN-ser) is a term for
diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and
can invade nearby tissues. Every 3.5 minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer. Below, are some of the major types of childhood cancer:
Leukemias~ type of cancer that begins in the bone marrow and spreads to the blood. Leukemias account for about 1/3 of all childhood cancers. Leukemia is said to be either acute (fast growing~ accounts for most of the childhood leukemia cases) or chronic (slow growing).
