I had previously shared that within a year of moving to Arizona, two of my best friends lost their two year old children. Over the last seven years, Bonnie and Emily, have graciously shared some of the struggles, fears, and thoughts they face on a daily basis. I have never had to ask questions such as what would my now first born be like as a second child, what would my kids be like with an older sibling? Would they have gotten along? I have never had to face the fears of forgetting the details. The smell of Faolan's sweet skin, her gentle way of signing for more milk, Miguel's ability to sing Old Man River at 2, the twinkle in his eyes when he laughed. I have also never had to face the pain of reducing my child's memory to a photograph. What had begun as a tribute to Faolan has turned into an opportunity to heal, personally. Many an evening has been spent in tears looking at photos, remembering the details, wishing things could have been different. I continue to be amazed at the courage and strength of Jameson & Emily. I am grateful for their ability to use their experience to help other families touched by childhood cancer. I am equally grateful and in awe of the support we are receiving from the surrounding community. Times are tough and it seems more than ever, we need a cause to believe in. Thank you.
