I'm Engaged...Now What: Creating Vision and Color Through The Chakras
Chakra is a Sanskrit (the language of yoga) word meaning disc or wheel. According to the yoga philosophy, there are seven main chakras (energy centers) located along the spine. Each chakra is associated with a specific color, part of the body, emotional quality, and spiritual attribute. The seven main chakras are listed below with benefits of using each color as a theme for your upcoming wedding:
Muladhara Chakra (Root of Support)
Color: Red
Location: Base of the spine at the coccyx
Association: Survival, support
The first chakra is our foundation. It represents stability and the possibility of being grounded. Red is a great color for a wedding because of its association with the first chakra. Being grounded on your wedding day allows you to move through the many range of emotions, feelings, and experiences with an open heart.
Swadhisthana Chakra (Sweetness)
Color: Orange
Location: Lower abdomen to navel area
Association: Emotions & sexuality
The first chakra provides the stability and security needed to explore the emotions, associated with the second chakra. As security & survival are met, the ability to seek pleasure surfaces. Choosing orange as a wedding color is a celebration of the change you are about to experience as a new couple.
Manipura Chakra (Lutrous Gem)
Color: Yellow
Location: Solar Plexus
Association: Personal power, will, & self esteem
In the third chakra, we learn to harness our personal power. Choosing yellow as a wedding color is an invitation to acknowledge the amazing being you are and the many gifts you will bring to your new marriage.
Anahata Chakra (Unstruck)
Color: Green
Location: Center of Chest

It is at the fifth chakra that we learn about the power of choice and speaking our truth. As you begin to trust yourself, your creativity flows from within. Blue is a beautiful wedding color as communication is critical for a healthy and happy marriage.
