Birthday Blog-jacking

I didn’t know if Carrie would blog about her own birthday, so I have decided to blog-jack and write a few words about this amazing woman, my sister. Where do I even begin?!
Some of my favorite memories with Carrie:
Listening to records on the Fischer Price player and making up dances in the basement of the Newgate house
Getting in trouble with dad for playing imaginary tennis with our mirror/brush set after bedtime
Making up fake newscasts (classic memory!)
Building the fort together- complete with carpet, wallpaper and a window!
Riding up to Lawyer’s Title for candy
Visiting you at Eastern
The phone call telling me you were pregnant with Drew
You being at my high school and college graduations
Introducing me to scrapbooking
My first introduction to yoga…her sitting on me in table position to get me to laugh!
Being the younger sister by five years (though everyone assumes SHE is the younger one…annoyingly! LOL), I have always looked up to Carrie. Though we had our share of sisterly spats growing up (I was always the messy one in the room we shared), we have undoubtedly grown to be best friends. She is such an amazing woman. She has overcome some serious obstacles in her lifetime but has remained positive, kind, & funny and has the biggest heart I know of! I admire her dedication to her marriage and the amazing love she and Chris share. She is an AMAZING mother and has raised Drew to be a thoughtful, caring, funny, polite, intelligent, individualistic, awesome young man. She is living her dream (though some days she might not feel it!). She touches so many lives with yoga & yoga teacher-training, the coffee shop/café and the weddings. As if being a wife, mother and business owner weren’t enough, she is constantly coming up with, sponsoring or donating to new fundraisers to help others. Throughout it all, she always has a smile on her face and legitimately cares for the community she & my mom have created at Inside the Bungalow.
I am so happy to be back in Arizona; close to my best friend, my sister. Carrie, you are so wonderful and such an amazing person. I am so blessed that you are my sister and are such a big part of my life. I love you so much. Happy Birthday!
All my love,
Your sister, Marpy, Mimi, Squirt (aka Mary)

Carrie,
Happy Birthday. Ditto to everything that Mary said about you. You have given so much to the Community and I for one am tremendously grateful for all that you do. I am pleased to have such a high quality yoga class in my neighborhood. You are mindful and joyful as a yoga teacher with great love for your students. Your knowledge and expertise benefits us all. You face life with tremendous courage and always take a look at "your" part in any area of conflict. You are truly a gift from above to your students and to the community. I can't say enough about you as a teacher, a woman, a friend, a mom, a wife, etc. You are just the very best!!!!! Love, Sunny
