Inside The Bungalow Launches "The Conscious Market"
According to www.coffeekids.org "coffee farmers earn as little as 4 cents a pound for the coffee they pick by hand." A report published by the National Labor Council stated that "the hourly pay rate for a Nicaraguan sweatshop worker was .21 cents. In Mexico, the average worker makes $25 to $50 a week working 10- to
12- hour days. These workers need at least $69 a
week just to meet their basic food, health and living needs. In
Malaysia, workers are paid $1.15 an hour, and in Pakistan the wage is
$0.20 to $0.26 an hour. In China the average pay per hour is $0.12 to
$0.14. The International Labor Rights Fund found that 80 percent
of soccer balls imported to the U.S. are made in Pakistan by children
as young as five. These children will work up to 20 hours a day seven
days a week." Can you imagine if this was your own child or sibling!?
